Geography of Colombia
Colombia is approximately twice the size of Texas. Colombia is the 4th biggest country in South America. Colombia is next to the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean. In Colombia, there is not much diverse weather due to its size and also the fact that it's on the equator. The weather is mainly hot all the time. They have something called dry and wet seasons. When it's the wet season, it gets a bit colder, especially in Bogota. When it's dry season, it is very hot all around. Around 90 percent of Colombia's climate is hot. Around 2 percent of Colombia's climate is warm/temperate. Around 2 percent of Colombia's climate is cold. Since Colombia has some of the Andes mountains, there are 3 major mountain ranges. The Cordillera Occidental is the lowest mountain range, coming in at less than 4000m tall. The Cordillera Central is the tallest of them all, with the highest peak at 5,750m tall. Western Cordillera Occidental, at the 2nd highest out of the 3 major mountain ranges. In Colombia, there are also volcanoes; one of the main volcanoes is called Volcanic Mount Ruiz, which erupted in 1985. There is a total of 1,138,910 sq km area. A total of 1,038,700 sq km land area. A total of 100,210 sq km area of water.
